Closer keeps Chapman's All-Region streak going

ORANGE, Calif. – The historically pitching-rich Chapman University baseball team kept a big streak alive this week. Junior RHP Taber Watson has been named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region baseball team, extending a streak of 19 consecutive years the Panthers have had at least one pitcher named to the All-West Region team.

That streak dates back to 1995 – Chapman's second year as a member of NCAA Division III.

In 12 of those appearances the right-hander didn't allow an earned run including his first 10 outings when Watson was simply dominating, tossing 24.2 consecutive innings before surrendering hits first earned run of the year.

The hard-throwing junior also struck out 40 batters in 29.2 innings en route to being named to the All-SCIAC second team this spring.

Chapman has earned 31 separate All-Region honors for members of its pitching staff over the past 19 seasons and Watson becomes the 21st different pitcher to receive the award at least once.
