Thompson recognized as SCIAC Pitcher of the Week
ORANGE, Calif. – A near flawless performance on the mound has earned Wyatt Thompson a SCIAC Pitcher of the Week nod. Thompson had his best performance of the season to lead Chapman to a win over Tufts.
Thompson threw seven shutout innings in the first game of a doubleheader and combined with Brandon Menzel to shutout the Jumbos – the second shutout of the year for Chapman's pitching staff. He set the tone by striking out the first four batters he faced and went on to strike out 10 without issuing a free pass.
He picked up his first win of the season while lowering his ERA to 2.55. He allowed just one single that found its way into right field and faced only one batter over the minimum through seven innings.
The Panthers are back into the SCIAC schedule this week as they take on Redlands in a three-game series. The first game will be Friday at 3 p.m. before moving to a doubleheader on Saturday at Redlands.
