Lu's top-five finish caps of Men's Golf SCIAC Championship
BEAUMONT, Calif — As the final group finished their putts on 18 at the Morongo GC at Tukwet Canyon, tied for fifth place on the leaderboard was men's golf's Bradley Lu. The sophomore finished his day at one over 73 and a +7 total across the three days.
Lu started out today's round a little rocky with a bogey on one, but quickly bounced back with a birdie on the sixth hole. He finished the front nine even par. And while Lu started out the back nine with a double bogey, an equalizing eagle on sixteen helped Lu return to a tie for fifth place. He finished shooting a total score of 223.
Around the course, Charlie Shumway placed second for the Panthers. He tied for 23rd amongst the field shooting a 239 — 23 over par — across the three rounds. Shumway shot a tournament personal best of 77 on the final day.
Rodrig Duran also posted his best score of the tournament on the final day. The freshman shot an 80 to finish out his +27, 243. Another freshman, Jake Ivan-Paul ended the tournament one stroke lower than Duran at 242.
The Panthers finished the tournament in eighth place, only three strokes behind Occidental in seventh and only seventeen strokes separating the Panthers at 942 and third place Whittier at 925.
