Crew opens season with loss to Mills

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - The Chapman University women's crew team opened the spring season with a loss to Mills College on the calm morning waters of Newport Harbor on Sunday. The Panthers' lost four races with the closest finish coming in the Varsity Four event. Mills' Varsity Four boat finished the 2000 meter course in 7:54 with the Chapman boat 8 seconds behind at 8:02.

Chapman's Varsity 8 boat finished the first race of the day with a time of 8:13.1, 30 seconds shy of Mills who crossed at 7:43.4.
