Panthers' Varsity 8 places third in five-boat race

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - Improving its time by nearly a second, the Chapman University women's crew Varsity 8 boat placed third in a race against four teams from Orange Coast College on Saturday. The Panthers finished their same home Newport Harbor 2000 meter course in a time of 8:12.3, a second better than their first race of the season.

Orange Coast's top Varsity team and top Novice team finished ahead of Chapman with times of 7:43.3 and 7:48, respectively.
