Lumsden is third Panther to earn SCIAC weekly award
ORANGE, Calif. – Senior Jessi Lumsden has been selected as the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Panthers to a 3-0 week. Chapman has had an Athlete of the Week in each of the last three weeks.
Lumsden joins teammates Sophie Srivastava and Cat Helgeson as SCIAC weekly award winners over the last three weeks. However, Lumsden is the first for Chapman to win the offensive award.
The Carlsbad, Calif. native average 4.09 kills per set last week while hitting .275. She had 17 kills, including the final one, to lead the Panthers to a comeback win at Cal Lutheran. She kept the hot hand with 13 kills in the sweep of Caltech and 15 kills on just 30 swings in the sweep of Redlands. Her 3.25 kills per set this season ranks third in the conference.
She also averaged three digs per set, posting two double-doubles for the week, and served up a pair of aces. Lumsden also was served 97 times in the three matches this week but made just one reception error.
The Panthers host Occidental tomorrow at 7 p.m. before heading to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday.
